After completing a pre-medical university degree, naturopathic medical students attend a full-time,
four-year program at an accredited naturopathic medical school. The curriculum includes:
Basic medical & clinical sciences: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology, pathology etc.
Laboratory diagnosis (interpretation of lab tests)
* Naturopathic therapeutics: clinical nutrition, botanical medicine,
homeopathy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and lifestyle counseling
*12-month clinical internship including a minimum
of 1200 hours supervised clinical experience
Upon graduation, students must
pass 2 sets of international board exams to obtain a license to practice naturopathic medicine. This extensive training develops
unique skills making Naturopathic doctors knowledgeable healthcare practitioners who can help patients make informed choices
about their health.
